Conditions have been great this week for snowmaking will all resorts blowing lots of snow on top of all the natural snow we have picked up. "New Snow This Week" totals listed here are from last weekend's storm. Lots of openings and more terrain coming online for this weekend. Here are some highlights: Sandia Peak opening this weekend (a week earlier than expected), Santa Fe open daily, Taos now open daily, Angel Fire opens for the season on Friday, Red River reopens Friday for daily operations, Sipapu open daily with ticket deals still in effect, Enchanted Forest cross country area fully open, Durango Mountain open daily and more of the backside opens this weekend and the benefit day coming up Sunday, Wolf Creek has Skate Skiing Clinics on Saturday and Sunday is the first ever Biathalon Challenge. All the details are below.
Sandia Peak: 0 New. 1 Storm. 1 New This Week. 24 Inch Base. Opening earlier than expected this Friday through Sunday. 95% of the mountain will be open with all chairs and base area facilities in operation. Regular lift ticket rates will be in effect, which is $50 for adult tickets. That's no change from last year. Will close Monday and Tuesday and the re-open Wednesday, Dec. 18 and stay open daily through Jan. 5.
Santa Fe: 0 New. 8 Storm. 8 New This Week. 40 Inch Base. 6/7 Lifts. 72/77 Trails Open (96% of the mountain open). Normal lift ticket rates are $69 for adult tickets.
Taos Ski Valley: 0 New. 15 Strom. 15 New This Week. 44 Inch Base. 6/14 Lifts (1, 2, 3, the Reuggli and two carpets). 66/113 Trails Open, including 8 trails on Highline Ridge and 10 backside trails. Now open daily (one week earlier than previously announced). Adult Lift Tickets are $55 through Dec. 19, with discounts available on lessons, rentals, and lodging as well. (Normal adult ticket prices this season are $77).
Angel Fire: 0 New. 8 Storm. 8 New This Week. 27 Inch Base. Opening date scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13. Will have at least 11 trails and 3 chairlifts running, as well as the Nordic Center. Will open the Tubing Hill and Nighttime Skiing December 21 and those will be open daily until January 4. Check out this incredible video on how they are getting ready for the season.
Pajarito: 0 New. 4 Storm. 4 New This Week. Need more snow to open the mountain. Snowmaking underway. Will open as soon at natural snowfall allows.
Red River: 0 New. 5 Storm. 5 New This Week. 24 Inch Base. 0/7 Lifts Open. 0/57 Trails Open. The Pot O Gold terrain park will re-open this weekend. Closed this this week, but will re-open this Friday and will start daily operations.
Sipapu: 0 New. 12 storm. 12 New This Week. 28 Inch Base. 3/5 Lifts. 13/41 Trails Open. Now open daily. Top-to-bottom beginner route now open. Snowmakers are working on Lift #3 next. Sipapu's newest lift, the magic carpet is also now open.. Lift tickets are $20 for adults (ages 21-59) and $15 for everyone else. Kids 6 and younger, 4th and 5th graders (report card required), and guests who are ages 40, 60, or 70 years old and older receive a free lift ticket everyday. Active duty military ski free nearly everyday, too. Learn 2 Ski and Snowboard Camps are available select dates this winter at Sipapu: first time skiers and snowboarders can get 2 days of ski school lessons, beginner lift tickets and rentals plus a night of slopeside lodging for just $49. Valles Caldera National Preserve: Opening date TBD.
Ski Apache: 0 New. 0 Storm. 0 New This Week. 8 Inch Base. Lift 3 and 5 are open with the trails: Bunny , Easy Street, East Easy Street.
Durango Mountain Resort (Purgatory): 0 New. 15 Storm. 15 New This Week. 48 Base. 2/10 Lifts Running. 58/88 Trails Open (70% of the mountain). Now open daily. All of the frontside is open with Chairs 1 and 3 on the back side. The Pitchfork Terrain Park and Animas City Adventure Park are open. Lift 8 will open on Saturday. The first Locals Benefit Day of this season is Sunday. Ski or ride for $40/adults; $32/young adults & seniors; $25/kids & super seniors. Wolf Creek: 0 New. 21 Storm. 21 New This Week. 70 Inch Base. 6/7 Lifts Running. 77/77 Trails Open (100% open). The Waterfall Area, Alberta Peak, Montezuma Bowl, Knife Ridge and Horseshow Bowl are all open. Lift tickets are $58 for adults and $31 for seniors and children. Legendary Nordic skier Murray Banks will be at Wolf Creek on Saturday, December 14th, to teach his famous Skate Skiing Clinics and Sunday, December 15th, the first ever Biathalon Challenge will take place in Alberta Park.
Silverton Mountain: Opening date Dec. 21.
Telluride Resort: 0 New. 5 Storm. 5 New This Week. 42 Inch Base. 9/18 Lifts Running. 49/93 Trails Open.
