Profile:While it may take a little time for her to open up to you, Desirae is well worth it! Whether it is hip-hop or country music, she loves rocking out to tunes of all genres. Desirae also enjoys burying her nose in a good book and letting her imagination take the reins. Drawing is another favorite activity of this teen. Flipping through the channels until she finds something that makes her laugh, Desirae does not mind watching television, either. She is affiliated with the Hopi, Navajo and Tohono tribes. In the eighth grade, Desirae is making progress with her studies and grades. This personable teen gets along particularly well with adults. Desirae benefits from counseling, which will need to continue after placement. The caseworker prefers a two-parent or single-dad family willing to participate in a transitional plan prior to placement; however, all types of families will be considered. Parents who can provide her with a lot of individual attention and time to build a trusting relationship are needed. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services. For New Mexico children, both homestudied and non-homestudied New Mexico families are encouraged to inquire; only homestudied families from other states should do so.
